YOUR STAY

There is a lot going on inside The Chedi, but the rooms themselves feel surprisingly easy to settle into.

Fumed oak, natural stone and soft furnishings give you somewhere warm to come back to after a cold day outside. Open the curtains and the mountains are right there again.

With 44 rooms and 79 suites, you have plenty of choice when it comes to space. If you are travelling as a family or group, the larger suites give you separate areas to sleep, relax and spend time together.

The Furka Suite is 318 square metres and has three bedrooms. Another option, the 340-square-metre Gotthard Suite, gives you broad views across the valley.

Your room also comes with a few useful touches that make the stay easier. An iPad controls the lighting, temperature and fireplace, while heated balconies give you somewhere to step outside without leaving the room far behind.

SKIING & ANDERMATT

Andermatt is a good place to come when skiing is high on your list. Gemsstock and the surrounding mountains give you plenty of terrain, whether you want to spend the whole day outside or just get a few runs in before lunch.

Once you are ready, the hotel's ski facilities help take care of the less interesting parts. Your equipment has somewhere to go, boots can be warmed up and the team can help with arrangements for the following day.

Maybe you want to ski with an instructor. Perhaps you would rather have a mountain guide show you around. Either way, the hotel can arrange private support around your plans.

There is plenty to do once winter ends, too. Hiking, cycling and other mountain activities give you a reason to spend time in Andermatt during the warmer months.

SPA & WELLNESS

After skiing in the cold, walking into the spa is probably one of the nicest parts of coming back.

The indoor pool stretches for 35 metres, giving you enough room for a proper swim. Above you, the glass roof lets daylight into the space, so even indoors you never quite lose the feeling that you are in the mountains.

Outside, the 12-metre heated pool gives you another option. Sit in the warm water while snow sits around the pool and the peaks rise behind you.

For a slower afternoon, move through the thermal areas at your own pace. You have saunas, steam rooms, hammams, hot and cold plunge pools and ice fountains to choose from.

Book a treatment when you want to be properly looked after. Twelve treatment rooms provide space for massages and other wellness treatments, while the health club gives you Technogym equipment and personal training if exercise is part of your routine.

When you are finished, find a daybed, have some tea and take your time before going anywhere else.

FOOD & EVENINGS

You are unlikely to run out of options at dinner. The Japanese Restaurant gives you a more refined evening, while the hotel's other dining spaces offer different settings when you want something more relaxed.

Then there is the cheese. The Chedi's large glass Cheese Tower displays Swiss and international varieties, so you can choose something for the table or simply have a look around.

Wine lovers have plenty to explore as well. Around 6,000 bottles are held in the collection, giving you a fair amount of choice when you sit down for dinner.

After eating, you might head to the Bar and Living Room. Two fireplaces keep the space warm, and there is enough room to sit comfortably with a drink without feeling that you need to move on.

Travelling with children? The Chedi Bear Club gives younger guests their own supervised space and activities, leaving you free to spend a little longer at dinner or in the spa.

PRIVACY & SERVICE

You get the convenience of a five-star hotel, but the setting still feels removed from everyday life. The mountains are close, the rooms are quiet and much of what you need is already inside the property.

During your stay, the hotel team can take care of the practical details. Ski arrangements, restaurant bookings, transport, activities and other requests can all be handled through the concierge.

Whenever you fancy a change of scenery, Andermatt village is close enough to visit. Spend a few hours exploring, have lunch somewhere different and return to the hotel when you are ready.

Business trips do not have to mean giving up the mountain experience either. Private meeting and boardroom spaces allow you to combine work with skiing, wellness and good food.
