The Alpina
Gstaad, Switzerland
56 Rooms & Suites
You will find The Alpina Gstaad up on the hill above the village, surrounded by the mountains of the Bernese Alps. It is a good place to disappear for a few days without feeling completely cut off from Gstaad. There are 56 rooms and suites, a large Six Senses Spa and several restaurants and bars to choose from. Your day could start on the slopes, move to the spa in the afternoon and finish with dinner overlooking the mountains.

YOUR STAY
The first thing you notice is how much of the local character has been kept inside. Old Saanenland timber, stone and marble give the rooms some warmth, while the furniture and lighting keep everything simple and contemporary.
You can choose between 25 rooms and 31 suites, depending on how much space you need. Some are better suited to shorter stays, while the larger suites give you separate areas where you can sit, work or spend time together.
The Panorama Suite is the largest option at 400 square metres. Three bedrooms give you plenty of room for a family or group, and you also have a private spa and fireplace.
Large windows make the most of the setting. Step onto your terrace in the morning and you can look across the mountains before deciding what the day should look like.
There are comfortable places to sit throughout the hotel too. Meet someone for a drink in the Alpina Lounge and Bar, or head to the cigar lounge when you want somewhere a little more private.
SKIING & GSTAAD
You have several ski areas around Gstaad, which means you can change your plans from one day to the next. Spend a full day on the mountain if you want, or head out for a few hours and come back before lunch.
Your equipment has its own place at the hotel. The ski facilities include heated storage, so there is no need to bring cold, wet boots back to your room at the end of the day.
Private instructors and mountain guides can be arranged through the concierge. You might want to improve your skiing, explore a different part of the area or simply have someone else take care of the route.
Skiing is only one way to spend your time here. Take a walk into Gstaad, browse the village or stay at the hotel and enjoy a slow morning.
Once winter is over, the surrounding mountains become a setting for hiking, cycling and other outdoor activities. The scenery changes, but you still have plenty to do.
SIX SENSES SPA
Give yourself an afternoon with nowhere else to be. The Six Senses Spa covers around 2,000 square metres, so you have plenty of space to move between the different areas without feeling rushed.
A 25-metre indoor pool gives you somewhere to swim, while the heated outdoor pool lets you stay outside even when the air is cold.
You could spend some time in the Finnish sauna, try the steam rooms or cool off in the cold-water facilities. The Moroccan hammam offers another place to sit quietly and let the day slow down.
Treatment rooms are available when you want a massage or another treatment. For something different, the flotation room gives you a quieter experience away from the main spa.
You can also book time in the fitness studio or join a yoga session. After your workout, stop for a drink at the spa lounge before heading back to your room.
DINING & EVENINGS
You have a few very different choices when dinner time comes around. Megu focuses on Japanese cooking, while Sommet serves French and European dishes. The Swiss Stübli is the place to go when you are in the mood for traditional local food.
Wine lovers have plenty to look through as well. The cellar holds more than 1,700 bottles, so you can choose something to match your meal or ask the team for a recommendation.
Maybe you want to sit down for a long dinner with everyone. On another night, you might prefer something quicker before heading to the cinema. There is enough variety here that you do not have to repeat the same evening twice.
Once dinner is over, stay at the bar for another drink or find somewhere comfortable to sit. When you are ready for bed, your suite gives you somewhere quiet to finish the night.
PRIVACY & SERVICE
You are above the main village rather than right in the middle of it, which makes the hotel feel removed without making Gstaad difficult to reach. A short trip takes you into town whenever you want to shop, eat or meet friends.
Arrivals are handled through a covered underground entrance, giving you a more private way in and out of the property.
The concierge team can take care of the details during your stay. Ski instructors, mountain guides, restaurant bookings, transport and activities can all be arranged according to what you have planned.
Selected suites also come with dedicated butler service. You have someone available to help with requests, changes to your plans or anything else that needs sorting during the day.
Private jet arrivals are straightforward too, with Saanen Airport close to the hotel.
