Miavana
Madagascar
14 Villas
You arrive at Miavana and suddenly the rest of the world feels a long way away. The resort sits on Nosy Ankao, a private island off the coast of Madagascar, with fourteen villas looking out towards the Indian Ocean. You could spend your days swimming, diving, exploring the island or flying over the mainland by helicopter. Or do very little at all. Your villa, the beach and the warm water are usually enough.

YOUR STAY
There is no big hotel building here. Instead, the fourteen villas are tucked into the island landscape, with greenery, sand and ocean between you and the next one.
Inside, the design keeps things fairly simple. Local limestone, timber and large glass openings bring plenty of the island into the rooms without making them feel overly rustic.
You can choose between one, two and three-bedroom villas depending on the size of your group. Travelling with children or friends? The larger options give everyone more room to settle in.
Step outside and your own pool is waiting. Swim before breakfast, lie back on a lounger or walk down to the beach when you feel like getting into the sea.
The bathrooms give you another place to slow down. A deep stone bath and an indoor-outdoor shower make a welcome change after a day spent in the water or out exploring.
NOSY ANKAO & ISLAND LIFE
Most days start outside. You might walk along the sand before breakfast, head into the water for a snorkel or take a paddleboard out for a while.
There is plenty beneath the surface too. Diving and snorkelling give you a chance to explore the marine life around Nosy Ankao, while boat trips take you further out when you want to see more of the coast.
Want something completely different? Take a helicopter over Madagascar. Guided excursions give you the chance to explore the mainland and look for wildlife away from the island.
Back on Nosy Ankao, you can slow things down again. Walk, swim, find a quiet place in the shade or spend an afternoon doing absolutely nothing.
Maybe that sounds like a waste of a trip all the way to Madagascar. Spend one day doing nothing and you might change your mind.
WELLNESS & RELAXATION
You already have your own pool, so there is no need to go far for a swim. Early mornings are particularly easy here. Step outside, get into the water and take your time before the day gets going.
The Myona Wellness Spa gives you another option when you want a proper treatment. Massages and other experiences can be arranged using local ingredients such as vanilla and ylang-ylang.
After diving or a long day outdoors, head back to your villa and run a bath. There is something very easy about having nowhere else to be.
You could also spend the afternoon on a daybed, listening to the water and waiting for the heat to ease.
When evening comes, take a final walk along the beach. Then head back, get comfortable and leave the rest of the night open.
FOOD & EVENINGS
Meals follow your plans here. Your private chef prepares the food, while you decide whether you want breakfast early, lunch on the beach or a longer dinner in the evening.
Fresh seafood and local ingredients feature naturally on the menus. If there is something particular you enjoy eating, let your team know and they can build the meal around you.
Beach barbecues make lunch easy. Eat outside, stay in your swimwear and take another dip afterwards.
The Piazza is where everyone can meet later in the day. Grab a drink at the bar, sit down with the rest of your group and see where the evening goes.
Perhaps you want a quieter night. Have dinner close to your villa, open a bottle of wine and sit outside for a while.
PRIVACY & SERVICE
Miavana gives you a different kind of privacy simply because of where it is. Nosy Ankao is an island, and the villas are spread out rather than grouped around one large building.
Your own villa gives you somewhere to retreat to whenever you want. If you are travelling with a larger group, the different bedroom options also make it easier for everyone to have their own space.
A dedicated team looks after you throughout the stay. Villa managers, chefs, hosts and activity specialists are there to deal with the practical side of things.
Fancy diving tomorrow? Ask. Want a boat trip instead? That can be arranged. If you would rather stay by the pool all day, nobody is going to make you feel guilty about it.
Getting to the island is straightforward too. Private helicopter transfers connect Miavana with Madagascar, turning the journey itself into part of the trip.
