YOUR STAY

You will probably spend a fair amount of time looking out of the windows. The Matterhorn is so close to the view that it is difficult to ignore, especially early in the morning when the light starts to change.

Inside, the chalet feels warmer and more relaxed. Timber brings in the Swiss alpine character, while Italian furniture, stone and softer fabrics give the rooms a more contemporary look.

Five bedrooms are spread across the chalet, and each has its own bathroom. That works well when you are travelling with friends or family because nobody has to give up their own space.

The master bedroom is a little different. You get a fireplace, walk-in dressing room, private balcony and a separate lounge where you can sit quietly for a while.

There is also an internal lift connecting the floors. After a full day in ski boots, you will be glad you do not have to climb several flights of stairs to get to bed.

SKIING & ZERMATT

Zermatt gives you plenty of reasons to get outside. Ski the local pistes, spend the day exploring the mountain or ask the team to arrange a private instructor or guide.

Getting to the Sunnegga funicular is particularly easy from the chalet. A private mountain lift connects you towards the funicular, saving you some of the usual back-and-forth involved in getting to the slopes.

Your equipment stays downstairs in the private ski room. There are individual lockers and boot warmers, so everything is ready when you wake up the next morning.

Not every day needs to be a ski day. You could walk around Zermatt, have lunch in the village or spend the afternoon back at the chalet with the Matterhorn in front of you.

WELLNESS

Once you have finished skiing, you can head straight downstairs instead of going anywhere else.

The heated indoor plunge pool is a good place to start. Get into the water for a while, take a few slow lengths or simply sit there and let your legs recover.

A Finnish sauna gives you the heat you might be looking for after being outside in the cold. The steam room offers something different, with its mosaic tiles and softer atmosphere.

You also have hot-and-cold plunge facilities if you want to try contrast therapy. It is an easy way to change things up after spending hours on the mountain.

For something more hands-off, book a massage in the private treatment room. A therapist can come to you, which means your afternoon does not have to involve another trip into town.

LIVING & DINING

The main living room is upstairs, beneath a high vaulted ceiling with the fireplace sitting at the centre of the space. It is where you are likely to end up after dinner, even if nobody planned to stay there for long.

Before the meal, grab a drink from the private bar and find a comfortable seat. Someone might head outside onto the heated terrace while another person stays beside the fire.

Your private chef takes care of the meals throughout your stay. You can have breakfast whenever it suits your plans, whether you are leaving early for the mountain or taking a slow morning.

Dinner is entirely on your schedule. Perhaps you want a few courses and a bottle of wine. Maybe the group would rather keep things simple after a long day outside.

The professional kitchen sits alongside the dining area, so the evening still feels social while the food is being prepared.

Afterwards, you have nowhere you need to be. Put on a film, pour another drink or stay at the table talking until you realise how late it has become.

PRIVACY & SERVICE

Chalet Elbrus sits within the private 7 Mountains development, so you get a quieter setting than you would in the centre of Zermatt.

At the same time, you are not cut off from the resort. The private mountain lift gives you access towards Sunnegga, while transport can be arranged whenever you need to get around the area.

A small team looks after the practical side of your stay. Your chef handles the food, your butler can help with requests and housekeeping takes care of the chalet while you enjoy your time here.

You are also free to ignore all of that and stay put. Spend the morning in the spa, take lunch on the terrace and watch the Matterhorn from the warmth of your chalet.
