YOUR STAY

Walk in from the cold and the first thing you notice is the warmth of the interior. Timber and stone give the chalet that Austrian mountain feel, while the furniture and fabrics keep it comfortable rather than overly traditional.

Six en-suite bedrooms give everyone somewhere to call their own. The master is the largest, with a fireplace, dressing room, lounge and balcony where you can step outside and look over the valley.

If you are travelling with children, they get their own space too. The custom bunk room gives them somewhere to sleep and hang out away from the main bedrooms.

Then there is the main living room. High ceilings, a large stone fireplace and a private bar make it the obvious place to meet at the end of the day.

You might sit there with a drink while dinner is being prepared. Someone else can head to the mezzanine with a book. Nobody needs to be doing the same thing.

SKIING & OBERLECH

The big advantage here is simple: you are already on the mountain.

Step outside and you have ski-in/ski-out access, so there is no morning drive, shuttle or long walk to the lifts. Once your boots are on, you are ready to go.

Spend the day exploring the Arlberg or keep things closer to Oberlech. If you want help finding the right runs, your team can arrange private instructors and mountain guides.

Coming back is just as easy. Ski straight home, take off your equipment and leave it in the private ski room. Heated boot facilities mean your gear will be ready again when you wake up.

On days when you would rather skip the skiing, you are still in a beautiful part of the Alps. Take your time over breakfast, explore Lech or stay home and watch the snow from the terrace.

WELLNESS

After several hours outside, the wellness floor gives you somewhere warm to disappear to.

Get into the indoor pool and take your time. You can swim for a while, sit in the water or simply look out towards the mountains through the surrounding windows.

The Finnish sauna is there when you want serious heat. For something different, spend some time in the Turkish hammam, with its mosaic-tiled walls and warm steam.

You also have an infrared cabin, which gives you another option when you want to relax without spending too long in the heat.

A private treatment room means you do not have to leave the chalet for a massage. Arrange a treatment, take your time afterwards and head upstairs whenever you feel ready.

Even the bathrooms give you somewhere comfortable to slow down, with marble finishes and premium bath products.

FOOD & EVENINGS

You can eat when you want, rather than working around a restaurant timetable. Your private chef prepares breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner according to your group's plans.

Maybe you want an early breakfast before getting onto the slopes. Later, everyone can sit down together for a proper dinner in the main dining room.

The large table sits beneath a statement chandelier, with the stone and timber around it keeping the room feeling like part of the mountain rather than a formal restaurant.

Before eating, stop at the bar for a drink. After dinner, head down to the wine cellar and choose a bottle from the Austrian and international collection.

Once everyone has eaten, there is no reason to call it a night. You can sit beside the fireplace, move to the mezzanine or simply stay around the table talking.

PRIVACY & SERVICE

Oberlech feels different from staying down in the main village. You are higher up, surrounded by the mountains and away from much of the activity below.

That does not mean you are left to figure everything out yourself. Your chalet manager, chef, butler and housekeeping team are there throughout the stay.

Want a private guide for the day? Need transport arranged? Perhaps you have decided on a helicopter trip at the last minute. Tell the concierge what you have in mind and the team can organise it.

The service is there when you need it, but it does not have to get in the way. You can spend the morning skiing, disappear into the spa for the afternoon and only see the rest of the group again when dinner is ready.

With room for up to 12 guests, Chalet 1551 works particularly well when you want everyone together without having everyone on top of each other.
